Products I Regret Buying

Sometimes products just aren’t as great as you think they’re going to be.  You do your research, but you still end up disappointed.  Most of the products I’ll be talking about are my own fault (like I picked the wrong color), but there are some products here that are just junk.  Different products work for different people, and these particular ones just didn’t work out for me.

Pureology Colour Fanatic with 21 Essential Benefits – ok, we all know this brand is pricey, so I was expecting this product to be awesome!  I love the It’s A 10 Miracle Leave In Product (LOVE), so I thought this would be even better.  It has 21 benefits for your hair, like heat protecting, adding shine, etc., but it just didn’t wow me at all.  It smells nice, but I didn’t notice any difference in my hair after using it.  I much prefer the It’s a 10, it leaves my hair so soft and shiny.  This isn’t necessarily a BAD product, it just didn’t wow me for the price.

Macadamia Control Hair Spray  – Yeah, this did nothing.  It didn’t smell very good, and it left my hair crunchy where I sprayed it.  It also  didn’t hold my curls at all.  Fail.

ELF Makeup Mist and Set – Sorry ELF, I love you, but this stuff stinks.  Literally.  It smells so bad.   Also, when you spray it on your face, the pump shoots out big streams of product instead of a fine mist. Wth?  No.  Did I get a bad one or what?

MAC Lip Liner in Hip N’ Happy– ok, this one is my fault.  I chose a horrible color, lol.  Do not buy this lip liner if you are my skintone cause it will make you look like a weirdo.  It is such a light, pale, but bright (?) pink…and I’m not really sure who it would work on!  It just exaggerates the lines in my lips and makes me look like a dead Barbie.  Skip this.  It doesn’t make you hip or happy. 🙂

Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer–  I know, I know.  Everyone and their mom LOVES this.  Not sure what I’m doing wrong, but I do not like this concealer.  The color is good, so I chose right, but I just don’t like the consistency at all!  First off, it’s too sheer for my undereye circles, which are dark, but not THAT dark.  I find that it dries so quickly that I barely have enough time to blend it!  I just don’t like this, but I’m making myself use it up.  Team NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

Loreal Colour Riche Monos Eyshadow – these are fairly new at the drugstore, and since I love the Infallible Shadows (go get you some Amber Rush), I thought I would love these too.  Now, when you dip your finger in, they seem to be the same consistency as the Infallible ones, and they even look the same in the pan.  But when you apply them to your lid (or your arm to swatch), no product comes off!  Like NONE.  I tried applying these wet, dry, with my finger, but they just don’t come off the brush or my finger.  It’s weird.  You shouldn’t have to work this hard for decent color payoff.

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette–  this one is probably my fault, too.  I just don’t ever use this and I regret buying it!  It is a palette of 6 shadows, and three of them are highlights!  Why?!  Who needs three highlight shades in a tiny palette like this?  Also, there is only one shimmer shade (one of the MANY highlights), and the rest are mattes.  There are two taupey-browns, and a black.  YAWN.  Could this palette get any more boring?  Throw in a shimmer shade to liven’ up the joint UD!

MAC Studio Finish Concealer – this concealer is extremely drying and hard to blend out.  I do like cream concealers like this, but not this one.  I feel like it is very thick and mask like.  It doesn’t look like skin when applied.

Ok, so I hope that wasn’t too negative!  Why are your thoughts on these products?

Great info on these products as I’m about to build my second kit after some 19 years later. And so much has changed over the years. I don’t know where to start or what to get to get the perfect kit started as I know that I want to look professional and be prepared. Lots of research to do.
